Biden Administration Agrees To Secure Gaza Pier Third Time
You have to be kidding me. Does the Biden administration believe the third time is a charm?
The Biden administration will re-anchor the Gaza Pier for the third time.
Another opportunity for the Hamas terrorists to sabotage Israel and United States military putting them in harms way.
Two defense officials confirmed a U.S. soldier assigned to the Gaza pier mission was seriously injured last week. Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, the deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, told reporters last Thursday that a total of three service members were injured in non-combat-related incidents at sea.
Below is the Pentagon spokesperson confirming plans to re-anchor the $320 million pier. U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to the 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary), U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to Amphibious Construction Battalion 1, and Israel Defense Forces emplace the Trident Pier on the Gaza coast, May 16, 2024. The temporary pier, part of the Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore capability, will enable the maritime delivery of international humanitarian aid to the United Nations in Gaza for distribution to Palestinian people in need.
The components of the DOD's Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore capability, or JLOTS include a floating pier, an approximately 1,800-foot-long causeway that will be attached to the shore, and a group of logistic support vessels and barges that will transport the aid from the pier to the causeway. Once the aid has reached the two-lane causeway, it can be transported to the land and distributed to Gaza, according to Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, who explained the planned JLOTS mission to the media during today's briefing.
The temporary pier has broken apart twice due to rough ocean conditions. CNN reports the pier “sustained damage in heavy seas on Tuesday in a major blow to the American-led effort to create a maritime corridor for humanitarian supplies into the war-torn enclave, the Pentagon said.”
None of the aid that has been unloaded from the temporary pier the US constructed off the coast of Gaza has been delivered to the Palestinian population, as the US coordinates with the UN and Israel to identify safe delivery routes inside the enclave, the Pentagon said a week ago Tuesday.
Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh stated over the next two days, the pier will be pulled out and sent to the southern Israeli city, where U.S. Central Command will repair it. She said the fixes will take “at least over a week” and then the pier will need to be anchored back into the beach in Gaza.
The U.S. also has plans of continuing to provide airdrops of food and humaand will determine other safe routes for distribution while the pier is reconfigured. Deliveries also were halted for two days last week after crowds rushed aid trucks coming from the pier and one Palestinian man was shot dead.
